Draft US-Iran MOU Details Nuclear, Sanctions, and Regional Terms
A leaked draft Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran outlines key concessions on nuclear activity, sanctions relief, frozen assets, and regional military posture, with several provisions benefiting Iran.
According to the draft MOU, Iran commits to halting pursuit of nuclear weapons and agreeing to enrichment talks, while the US gains from these nonproliferation steps. On sanctions, the US would temporarily waive them and grant incremental relief, benefiting Iran.
The US also agrees to release partial frozen assets, reopen the Strait of Hormuz (with Iran lifting its blockade), and withdraw local military forces while capping troop levels—all moves that favor Iran. Regional conflicts involving Lebanon are addressed, with Israel opting out, further benefiting Iran. Missile and proxy issues are explicitly excluded from the draft.
The MOU appears to give Iran advantages on multiple fronts, while the US receives primarily nuclear-related commitments.
