Kalshi restricts access for Indian users after regulatory pressure
Prediction market platform Kalshi has added India to a list of 55 jurisdictions where users are barred from the service, following a crackdown by Indian authorities on unlicensed betting and prediction platforms.
Kalshi, a US-based regulated prediction market, has restricted access for users in India. The platform added India to its list of 55 jurisdictions where residents cannot use the service.
The move comes after Indian authorities warned VPN providers not to assist users in bypassing blocks on illegal betting platforms and prediction markets. Kalshi's decision appears to be a compliance measure in response to the regulatory environment.
