Meta has acquired Manus, a developer of AI agents, for $2 billion, according to Bloomberg.

The deal strengthens Meta’s push into autonomous AI agents capable of performing complex tasks, managing workflows, and interacting with users with minimal human input. These technologies are seen as a key next step beyond chatbots, with applications across advertising, customer support, enterprise tools, and personal assistants.

The acquisition also fits Meta’s broader strategy of integrating advanced AI directly into its ecosystem — including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Horizon — while reducing reliance on third-party AI providers.

Analysts view the move as another signal that Big Tech is entering an aggressive consolidation phase in AI, where talent, proprietary models, and agent-based systems are becoming strategic assets worth billions.
